One of the things I have to do is create some video tutorials using the footage taken in some of our training sessions and the PowerPoint files used by the teacher in those sessions. I have to do some cool effects like showing a presentation slide while running the video on a small corner window at the same time, and a lot of things like that. The first obstacle I faced was about the software to use. I had never done anything like this and I knew nothing about this type of software. I did some inquiries and was told to try Microsoft Movie Maker 2 - "It is free and easy to use!" - they said. They were right!... It is free and pretty easy to use. But it is also very basic, with few editing features. Anyway, for those that need an easy to use video editor and are not looking for advanced features, I found some great, free video tutorials that will make you a powerful Movie Maker user in no time. Check the free Atomic Learning Movie Maker 2 video tutorial. They helped me a lot. P.S. - I ended up where I am now - preparing myself to the painful task of having to learn Adobe Premiere CS4 in a day or two. |

Although I’ve been working for both the Information Technologies and the Marketing and Communications department of my company, I’ve been challenged recently to give a slice of my time to the HR team, where a more technically supported approach to some of their human problems was to be tried out.
